The Forger Craft allows you to create copies of many different types of items, often replicas that are identical in appearance to unique and even complex items, although counterfeits usually do not have the same functionality or durability. Proficiency with other Crafts can help your counterfeits become increasingly realistic. For example, you could use your Forger Craft in conjunction with the Jeweler Craft to create an ornament with a fake gemstone.

  • Jewels: Creating fake jewelry is easy using this discipline. You can age the jewelry if necessary and even use quality materials that increase the authenticity of the fake.

  • Books: You can create copies of books that look old or brand new if you want.

Your talents in forgery allows you to replicate the signatures of nobles or artists you have seen before, often fooling even those who have seen it before.

To replicate a signature you must have seen it at least once, you have advantage on the check if you had access to the original signature when creating the formula. A target can identify the signature as fake from an Investigation check whose DC is defined by the result of the craft roll used to create it.

Magic Items

Transient Enchantment

Using your skills, you can counterfeit magical items, making them look and function like real items, but they don't actually work. A staff that shoots fireballs, for example, can shoot an illusory fireball 1d4 times, causing no damage and having its enchantment component broken when the charges run out.

You can create a counterfeit of a magic item with a maximum rarity equal to your proficiency bonus. To create items of higher rarity, the time and expense required increases by 50% for each category above the one you can create, and this counterfeit has a -2 to the identification DC for each category above its own, making it easier to detect.

Ex. With proficiency 2 you can create an Uncommon forgery in 18 hours and 225 PP or a Rare forgery in 32 hours and 100 GP.

DC: The base DC to detect a forgery is equal to 10 + your proficiency bonus + your Ability modifier. For each day of work on a forgery, a Craft check is made in secret for each day of creation. On a success, the detection DC remains the same; on a failure, the DC is reduced by 1. At the end of the work, you can only make a meticulous analysis to detect the forgery, making an Arcana roll against the DC. If you pass, you know the final detection DC. Using detect magic reveals that the item is a magic item as normal.
The total creation cost of a counterfeit magic item is equal to the sum of an item similar to the one you intend to counterfeit and the gp value based on the item's rarity. On a successful creation, the item resembles the copied item.

A signet ring usually has a unique raised mark, designed to leave an impression, proving the identity of its wearer. You know that they are not that unique and you can create a fake by having access to a wax seal molded by him, or even having temporary access to one.

You can replicate a noble ring with impressive accuracy, giving you advantage on Deception checks to seal a letter or even to prove yourself a noble. An Investigation check with a DC equal to the result of your roll to create it can identify the fake.

With the scroll in hand, you can use it to introduce yourself as a member of a noble family, whether fictional or not, requiring an investigation check of 10 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier to identify that it is false. Using the name of an existing noble family increases the DC of this formula by +2.

Fool's Gold

You know the chemical process needed to make the metallic color of Pyrite become closer to gold, generating a mineral cluster known as "fool's gold".

The alchemical process takes 1 hour for each ounce of fool's gold produced and has a production value of 5 CP per hour of work. Identifying fool's gold requires an Investigation check with a DC of 10 + your proficiency bonus + your Intelligence modifier.
