You can magically imbue a nonmagical weapon with elemental damage. For the duration, that weapon has a +1 bonus on hit rolls and deals additional damage equal to 1d4 damage based on the element used.
Each of the elements has a secondary effect that can be seen in the table “Effects for Spells by Type of Damage”, this table is found in Chapter 10: Spellcasting.
At Higher Spells. When you cast this spell using mana points equivalent to a 5th or 6th-level spell, the bonus on hit rolls increases to +2 and the additional damage becomes 2d4. When you cast this spell using mana points equivalent to a 7th-level spell or higher, the bonus increases to +3 and the additional damage becomes 3d4. When you cast this spell using mana points equivalent to a 9th-level spell, the bonus remains +3, the extra damage becomes 4d4, and your critical hit range decreases by 1 for attacks made with this weapon. When cast as a 5th-level spell or higher, the damage from this spell becomes magical.
