Spiritual (transmutation) 9th level

Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Personal
Components: V, S, M (a jade ring worth at least 1,500 gp, which you must place on your head before casting the spell)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour

You assume the form of a different creature for the duration of the spell. The new form can be any creature with a challenge rating equal to or lower than your level. The creature cannot be a construct or undead, and you must have seen this type of creature at least once.

You transform into an approximate copy of that creature, without any Class levels and without the Conjuration feature.

Your game statistics are replaced by the chosen creature's statistics, although you retain your personality and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. You also retain all of your skills and saving throws, in addition to gaining those of the creature. If the creature has the same proficiency as you and the bonus listed in its stat block is greater than yours, use the creature's bonus instead of yours. You cannot use any legendary or lair actions in the new form.

You take on the new form's hit points and Hit Dice. When you revert to your normal form, you return to the number of hit points you had before transforming. If you revert to your original form as a result of falling to 0 hit points, any excess damage will be transferred to your normal form. As long as the excess damage doesn't reduce your normal form to 0 hit points, you don't become Unconscious.

You retain the benefit of all features from your Class, Origin, Runes, or other source, and can use them if the new form is physically capable of doing so. You can't use any special senses you have (darkvision, for example) unless the new form also has that sense. You can only speak if the creature can speak normally.

When you transform, you choose whether your equipment falls to the ground, merges with the new form, or is used by it. Loaded equipment operates normally. The DM decides whether it's practical for the new form to use a piece of equipment, based on the creature's shape and size. Your equipment does not change size or shape to match the new form, and any equipment the new form cannot use must fall to the ground or merge with it. Equipment that fuses has no effect in this state.

For the duration of the spell, you can use your action to assume a different form, following the same restrictions and rules as your original form, except: if your new form reaches more hit points than your current form, your hit points remain at its current value.
