“During the Great Darkin War, the founders of Nazumah traveled southward through the Shuriman Desert to escape the tyranny of the Ascended. They would eventually find an oasis, the only water source for miles, but it was plagued by monsters who depended on it for survival. After a long and hard fought struggle, they claimed the oasis as their own and built a society around it. For the following 500 years, this society would end up thriving on hunting the giant monsters for their rare materials to improve their weapons and infrastructure. Unlike the rest of Shurima, Nazumah rejects the rule of Azir and any other ascended who would try to lay claim to their home.”

Nazumah is a land of valiant warriors and hunters, accustomed to hunting giant and powerful creatures. With a rich and colorful culture that seems to celebrate freedom endlessly each day, they are always aware of the freedom they have won from the oppression of the so-called “warrior gods” at the cost of much struggle.

Among the nazumites it is normal to find different ethnicities and cultures that fled the Darkin War, with people from different regions seeking the freedom provided by the country or even looking for the most exotic new products in its markets.

Nazumah's relationship with other Shurimans tends to be peaceful and friendly if they do not have any indication of serving or being connected to an Ascendant, but this can quickly change when the opposite is found. If they notice any sign of slavery or forced servitude, they may make it a personal goal to help their brother of the sands free himself from it.

Many of Shurima's most important markets, such as Medumarca, first circulate in the markets of Nazumah, where they are traded with great skill and cunning. Trying to pass off a Nazumite merchant is not a good idea, and can even mean banishment from the country.

Freedom

The greatest value propagated in Nazumah is the value of Freedom, a value that dates back to the formation of the city when more than 500 years ago they escaped the tyranny of the Warrior Gods and had to conquer the land with their strength at the cost of much sweat and blood.

For this reason, freedom in Nazumah is encouraged in children from an early age, so that they follow their own steps even if they are inspired by the stories of the elders or the example of their family members.

Respect for elders is absolute in Nazumah, mainly because elders also respect younger people, understanding their youthful impetus and always being available with wise words to help Nazumites become capable of solving their own problems.

This does not mean that the Nazumites are individualists, on the contrary, since they are young, although they know who their parents are, they are raised by their elders as a whole, even if they have no blood connection with them, treating everyone as their brothers and aware that united they are stronger in maintaining their freedom.

Language

Although in the past the language of Nazumah was Shuriman, in the same way that contemporary Shuriman has distanced itself from ancient Shuriman, Nazumite has also distanced itself from that language, becoming a language that has come to reflect the ideals of freedom of that nation.

If in other languages a color has only one name for different tones, in Nazumah colors have different names for their most diverse hues, demonstrating the sensitivity of the Nazumites to the individual characteristics of each thing or person and reflecting in their clothes with different colors.

Many Nazumite words have roots in ancient Shuriman words, but the linguistic articulations and development of Nazumah are quite different from those that developed throughout the other cities of the ancient Empire.

Monster Hunters

Due to the saga of the founding of Nazumah, its people learned to be warriors, no matter what profession a citizen wishes to follow, he is still encouraged to discover his strengths and only truly becomes an adult when he proves himself capable of hunting a creature, even if in partnership with other hunters.

This almost military heritage means that even the most skilled and delicate craftsmen can hide enhanced strength and combat skills, as hunting these creatures is not only a source of pride for the citizens, but also a role that each citizen assumes to ensure the protection of Nazumah and its freedom.

Craftsmen

Nazumah is a city of craftsmen who, technologically and scientifically, are on par with the major nations of Runeterra. They do not wear bones and leather, but rather decorate their clothes with beautiful designs and precious stones.

Nazumites traditionally imbue their weapons, clothing, and general possessions with the essence or characteristics of the monsters they destroy, causing the power of these creatures to be added to their own, giving them incredible abilities.

In the past, Nazumah relied heavily on monster hunting to survive. However, mere survival has long since been a thing of the past: hunting monsters has become one of the areas in which the Nazumite people have prospered, allowing them to market the results of their hunts.

The monster hunters of Nazumah are so idolized by the people that they gain celebrity status, causing many to follow this career on a complicated path where pride and vanity can become the greatest monster.

Heroes

Children in Nazumah grow up hearing wonderful stories and tales about their ancestors, whether of battles they fought against Ascendants, or of incredible monsters that were defeated and used to forge wonderful weapons and equipment.

These stories are so deeply rooted in Nazumite culture that they have become part of the city and its people. They are part of what drives the citizens of Nazumah to give their all in order to earn the pride of their fellow countrymen.

At the same time that this makes every Nazumite aspire to more and more, it is not rare for cases where the pride and vanity of a Nazumite is put to the test, making him have to go through the greatest ordeal of all, the ordeal of himself.

Although they are very firm in their vision of freedom, they understand that the majority of Shurimans are not the Ascended, extending their kindness to them especially when they have no ties to that culture, or are in situations of oppression.

Oasis

The source of life in Nazumah is the Oasis that springs from the scorching desert, offering fertile land and water for life to survive. In the past, it was necessary to fight various creatures in order to dominate the Oasis, but with time and the consolidation of Nazumite power, several areas began to be protected so that wildlife could follow its natural course.

Some of these areas are hunting grounds, where creatures can feed, but they often attract dangerous monsters, which are hunted not only for glory, but also to preserve the safety of these places and native life.

The fertile lands are protected with great care, not only because they are few, but because they attract even more monsters with the aroma of spices, fruits and even animal breeding that are carried out on these lands and which are Nazumah's main source of livelihood.

Baccai

The term “Baccai” comes from ancient Shuriman and is used to refer to creatures that have undergone the ascension ritual and have not had a result that resulted in social ascension. For the Nazumites, the term is more linked to monstrous creatures that spread across the desert and in the past dominated the Oasis.

These Baccai stand out from the creatures and monsters that the Nazumites are more than accustomed to dealing with, normally being the target of more experienced hunters and, not infrequently, being hunted by more than one hunter.

These monsters that have gone through the Ascension ritual have several powers, which makes them more dangerous and more valuable, since when they are defeated, their parts, be they claws, bones, blood or skin, will be used to create or imbue weapons, clothes, armor or other wonderful items.
