Part 4 · Monsters & Creatures
Soulgorger
“As our fleet approached the cursed lands, I thought: did those terrible creatures come from this vile place? Or did they ever truly live?” – Arie Wrence, Demacian soldier
The Soulgorger is one of the most terrifying creatures created by the black mist, thanks to its ability to consume other creatures’ energy to grow stronger. Combining this ability with its overwhelming physical size would already be enough to make it a creature almost impossible to defeat, but this is further intensified by its intelligence: not enough to be considered human, but enough to devise sadistic strategies that go beyond mere feral instinct.
All mist specters are dangerous, but few combine such perfectly balanced traits of harmfulness as this grotesque creature.

Characteristics
Descycle. Upon being reduced to 0 hit points, the Soulgorger must make a Constitution check with a DC equal to 10 or half the damage taken, whichever is higher. On a success, the Soulgorger returns to 1 hit point; on a failure, it returns to its plane or place of origin. This effect doesn't trigger if it's destroyed by a source that interacts directly with the destruction of undead, such as "Liturgy: Destroy Undead" from an Acolyte of the Spiritual Rite.
Soul Devourer. When the Soulgorger reduces a creature's hit points to 0, it regains a number of hit points equal to that creature's level or CR. If it reduces a creature's maximum hit points to 0, its own maximum hit points increase by that same amount.
Empowerment. Whenever any creature is reduced to 0 hit points or dies within 30 feet of the Soulgorger, it gains 1 Soul token.
Empower Attack. The Soulgorger can spend its Soul points to increase the damage of its attacks by 1 die for every 7 Soul points spent.
Empower Recovery. The Soulgorger can spend its Soul points to recover hit points, regaining 1d12 hit points for every 3 Soul points spent.
Mist Wraith. This undead is native to the Black Mist and is positively affected by it.
Object Manipulation. The Soulgorger is capable of carrying and wielding equipment, and can add its proficiency bonus to attack rolls made with that equipment.
Attacks
Drain Energy (recharge 5-6). The Soulgorger attempts to absorb part of the life essence of enemies within a 20-foot radius around itself, forcing them to make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw; on a failure, the creature takes 39 (6d12) Necrotic damage. On a success, the creature takes only half the damage. In addition, the Soulgorger regains +5 hit points for each creature that fails the saving throw.
Bite. Melee Natural Weapon Attack, +7 to hit, 10 ft. reach, one target. On a hit, deals 43 (6d12+4) Piercing damage.
Slam. Melee Unarmed Attack, +7 to hit, 10 ft. reach, one target. On a hit, deals 43 (6d12+4) Bludgeoning damage.
Epic Actions
The Soulgorger has 3 epic action charges, and can spend one of these charges to act. Only one action can be used at a time, at the end of another creature's turn. At the start of the Soulgorger's turn, the number of charges resets to 3
The Soulgorger can take an action and restore its reaction (if spent)
The Soulgorger can spend all or the rest of its movement
The Soulgorger can repeat a saving throw against an effect affecting it
Cost. When the Soulgorger redoes the saving throw this way, it loses 6 hit points.
Runes
Runic Pulse: Onyx Pulse (Regains 2 hit points at the start of the turn, regains 1d6 at the end of the round if it takes no damage)
Runes: Bloodthirst, 1 use. Ravenous, 1 use.
