Part 4 · Monsters & Creatures

Crow

Crows are often mistaken for ravens, but despite being a black bird, they’re slightly larger than a Raven. Crows are intelligent, highly acrobatic birds capable of gliding at high altitudes and even performing maneuvers; they have a pair of V-shaped wings, and their calls are deeper, with fewer repetitions, and capable of vocalizing clicks, rattles, and even imitating voices and sounds of nature. Crows tend to live solitary lives or form pairs for life, and are highly intelligent, naturally curious birds that enjoy playing and even solving simple puzzles. Crows are among the few animals that understand the concept of trading, being able to trade with individuals and other crows and recognize whether a trade is fair or not.

A crow’s mimicry is capable of reproducing sounds with great precision: other birds’ calls, alarm calls, ambient noises, and even human voices. Since this is used as a survival tool, Crows can use their Wisdom modifier instead of Charisma for Deception.
