Part 4 · Monsters & Creatures
Queen-Chembee
A monument to decay and neglect, the Queen-Chembee is the centerpiece of a hive of Bottle-Bees, an abomination originally created to purify contaminated water and now lost within its own programming. Enormous and worn down, this mechanical creature rules its creations in a frenzy of collection and replication, using chemical reagents to fuel its existence and build new drones from the junk around it.
Queen-Chembees are considered inferior models, scrapped due to severe design flaws and malfunctions, but reports suggest more advanced versions have already been spotted and dismantled in remote locations. These superior models show greater sophistication in their purification and destruction capabilities, suggesting that a main version or master prototype may still be active somewhere, possibly buried deep within Zaun.
These scrapped queens usually settle in forgotten depths, near toxic dumps or abandoned sewers, turning them into fortresses of scrap. Their presence is a death sentence for the surrounding area, where the air grows thick with corrosive fumes, and the environment becomes overrun by a growing infestation of aggressive automatons. Combat teams who’ve faced these creatures report their ability to “infect” machines and even technological equipment with a chemical virus, turning them into part of their hive.
No one knows how many Queen-Chembees exist, but their destruction is considered a priority by Zaunite authorities and inventors.
