Part 4 · Monsters & Creatures
Basilisk
“Being able to care for a basilisk was one of the greatest points of pride and one of the greatest challenges I’ve ever faced”
- a Noxian Squire
Basilisks, monstrous reptiles found in the mountains of southern Noxus and the Kumungu Forest, are voracious predators that reach gigantic proportions.
A powerful and sturdy animal even as a hatchling. The greenish skin of this gigantic saurian is hard as iron and displays dense protrusions of muscle bands, running from its stubby limbs to its long, thick tail.
A baby Basilisk is capable of carrying an entire four-person camp on its back without much difficulty.
While young, they’re beasts widely used as mounts, and few can withstand their charges. Once they grow too large to be controlled, they come to be used as beasts of burden or, sometimes, as battering rams to bring down the walls of besieged cities.
Depending on how they’re raised, a Basilisk can form an inseparable bond with its owner, and can become anything from a powerful ally to a dangerous enemy.
As incredible as it may seem, these enormous creatures love having their bellies scratched, though once you start, it’s dangerous to stop.
Rewards
Venom
A creature with the Collector: Biologist or Apothecary Craft can collect venom from a Basilisk, though an Apothecary must refine it before it can be used.
| Poison | DC | Check | Lvl | Saving Throw | Process |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basilisk Poison | 15 | Animal Handling | 3 | Constitution 14 | This venom must be carefully extracted from venom glands present in basilisks and undergo a refining process before it can be used. |
Venom Effects
- Refined Basilisk Poison (Wound). On a failed saving throw, any healing received by the target is reduced to 0 for one round. If the target is below half its hit points, it can’t be healed, requiring a Medicine check with a DC equal to the venom’s DC to treat its wounds before it can be healed.
