You create up to 5 pits, 25 feet deep and 5 feet in radius, at points within range of the spell. Each pit has a “lid”; when a creature steps on the lid, it opens like a trapdoor. Creatures standing on that lid must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failure, the creature falls into the pit below. On a success, the creature can move to an unoccupied space within 5 feet.
You can give a pit one or both of the following features:
Rock Spikes. A creature that falls into the pit takes 10d6 incisive damage from the spikes, in addition to any damage from the fall.
Retractable Lid. After a creature falls into the pit, the lid snaps back into place, trapping its victims inside. A successful Strength check is required to open the lid. The lid can also be broken; it has AC 25 and 60 hit points. A dispel magic spell cast successfully can destroy the lid.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell by spending Mana points equal to an 8th-level spell or higher, the incisive damage increases by 1d6, or the depth increases by 10 feet, for each spell level above 7th.
